Today, went to one of the most famous kebab restaurant namely, Göksu restorant located in Nenehatun. Göksü restoran serves many politicians and businessmen. The ambience were very exciting. As you can see in the photos, they didn’t served any appetizers because of the culture. Behind the scene, there are successful chefs from all around the world preparing the kebabs and fishes. When we asked the waiter, he suggested us to taste their Adana Kebab and Halep Icı Karısık and we ordered them. As the Adana Kebab sizzled away on the grill, we could hardly contain our excitement. When it was finally served to us, the meat was tender and juicy, with a smoky flavor that was simply divine. The spices used in the marinade were perfectly balanced, adding just the right amount of heat to the dish. Halep Icı Karısık was simply perfect. As we took our first bite from Halep Icı Karısık, we were immediately struck by the juicy, smoky flavor of the lamb. The meats were cooked to perfection, with a slightly charred exterior that gave it a delicious crunch. The spices used in the marinade were just the right amount of heat, adding a spicy kick without overpowering the taste of the meat. Overall, the Adana Kebab and Halep Icı Karısık were delightful culinary experience that left us with a newfound appreciation. The expertly grilled lamb, bold spices, and simple presentation combined to create a dish that we will undoubtedly be dreaming of for a long time to come. After the main meal, they insist us to taste their soufflé. They mentioned that many people coming for just tasting soufflé all around the world. It was very light but super tasteful. Our second destination is Hacı Mehmet from Urfa, a restaurant that has become famous in the kebab industry since 1972 and aims to bring the taste of Urfa to Ankara residents. When we first entered the restaurant and ordered, the offerings consisted of salad, chili paste, yoghurt appetizers and balloon lavash. We can say that the treats were insufficient for four people, we asked for a second plate of chili paste and extra lavash. The taste of the treats was at the same level and standard as other kebab shops. Our orders consisted of adana wrap, iskender and cheddar beyti. The service was smooth and timing was ideal, the waiters were respectful and polite. There was no chili pepper on the table for meals, and we thought that this was a shortcoming for a restaurant reflecting Urfa culture, and we also asked for chili pepper. Iskender was served with yoghurt, roasted peppers and roasted tomatoes and was a little too oily. However, the taste was better compared to other kebab shops and the meat used was of higher quality. The cheddar beyti was served with yoghurt, bulgur pilaf, roasted tomatoes and roasted peppers, and the cheddar was quite intense. Adana wrap was served with lavash, greens, onions, roasted peppers and roasted tomatoes, and while it was quite tasty, it was a bit too oily for Öykü, while the oil level was ideal for Berke. In general, we liked the dishes very much and we finished all of them except the Beyti, the portion of the Beyti was quite large. Our table was tidied up quickly, tea and Turkish coffee were served.
Although there was nothing that caught our eye in terms of hygiene, there were no wet wipes on the tables and we had to ask for them both at the beginning and at the end. Cutlery, knives and plates were clean and the restaurant was tidy. However, while we were eating, torrential rain started and we had to pull the table because water was flowing from the roof. The environment is nicely designed, quite spacious and the restaurant has a backyard. We chose the backyard for food, but it was non-smoking. The decoration is very nice, the walls are covered with artificial flowers and grass creating a peaceful ambiance. The biggest problem of the restaurant, in our opinion, is the parking lot. In order to reach the Urfalı Hacı Mehmet restaurant on Turan Güneş Bulvarı, we had to take two or three turns in the streets around the restaurant, and hunger made itself felt intensely. Although they don't seem to offer valet service, they said they can take the car to the parking lot at the entrance. It was a very enjoyable and delicious experience for us. We were only upset that there was no dessert service after the meal as in some kebab shops. We expected semolina halva, the classic of kebab restaurants. It was definitely an experience that we would prefer and recommend again. Our first stop is Düveroglu, which has been winning the hearts of kebab lovers in Ankara for many years and has now become a classic. As a starter, we ordered içli köfte and they served salad, acılı ezme (spicy tomato paste), and pita bread as a complimentary appetizer. The taste of the içli köfte was not as good as we expected, but it was not bad either. For the main course, we chose lahmacun, eggplant kebab, lamb skewers, and döner beyti. Overall, the food was flavorful and the meats used were good quality. Only lahmacun was tasteless and dry compared to other places, but the main dishes were truly magnificent. The main problem with the lahmacun was it does not have a strong taste. The eggplant kebab came to our table with an appropriate presentation and was very tasty. In our opinion, the most important aspect of the eggplant kebab is that the eggplants were cooked well, mashed nicely, and did not turn bitter during cooking. The lamb skewers were also nicely sauteed and cooked to perfection. The fat of the lamb skewers is enough. It served with lavash, sumaced onion, and various greens. Döner beyti is served wrapped in freshly baked lavash bread with butter and sauce. The taste of the döner is a classic Düveroğlu flavor and is very delicious. It is served with yogurt and bulgur pilavı on the side.
Düveroglu pays great attention to hygiene. A part of the kitchen is open and visible. The chefs working in the kitchen wear the necessary clothing and pay attention to hygiene. There is cologne on the tables and wet wipes are provided both before and after meals. Although the tablecloth at our table was a little dirty, we thought it might have been overlooked due to the crowd and didn't create any scene because it is not a big deal for us. The prices at Düveroglu are generally not very different from other places, but they are slightly more expensive. However, when the quality of the meats used is taken into account, the prices do not actually seem too expensive. You can see the menu and prices in the photos at the end of the blog. When we carefully observed and tasted everything for you, Düveroglu is definitely a place we would recommend. Although there were some issues with hygiene and certain dishes, the service was generally good and we were very satisfied. |
