OUR CHOICES
DUVEROGLU
Our first stop is Düveroglu, which has been winning the hearts of kebab lovers in Ankara for many years and has now become a classic. We ordered içli köfte and they served salad, acılı ezme (spicy tomato paste), and pita bread as a complimentary appetizer. For the main course, we chose lahmacun, eggplant kebab, lamb skewers, and döner beyti. Overall, the food was flavorful and the meats used were good quality. Only lahmacun was tasteless and dry compared to other places, but the main dishes were truly magnificent. The eggplant kebab came to our table with an appropriate presentation and was very tasty. In our opinion, the most important aspect of the eggplant kebab is that the eggplants were cooked well, mashed nicely, and did not turn bitter during cooking. The lamb skewers were also nicely sauteed and cooked to perfection. The taste of the döner beyti is a classic Düveroğlu flavor and was very delicious. Düveroglu pays great attention to hygiene. A part of the kitchen is open and visible. The chefs working in the kitchen wear the necessary clothing and pay attention to hygiene. The prices at Düveroglu are generally not very different from other places, but they are slightly more expensive. However, when the quality of the meats used is taken into account, the prices do not actually seem too expensive. When we carefully observed and tasted everything for you, Düveroglu is definitely a place we would recommend. Although there were some little issues with hygiene and certain dishes, the service was generally good and we were very satisfied. |
URFALI HACI MEHMET
Our second destination is Hacı Mehmet from Urfa, a restaurant that has become famous in the kebab industry since 1972 and aims to bring the taste of Urfa to Ankara residents. When we first entered the restaurant and ordered, the offerings consisted of salad, chili paste, yoghurt appetizers and balloon pitta bread. Our orders consisted of adana wrap, iskender and cheddar beyti. The service was smooth and timing was ideal, the waiters were respectful and polite. The taste of Iskender is better compared to other kebab shops and the meat used was of higher quality. Our table was tidied up quickly, tea and Turkish coffee were served. Cutlery, knives and plates were clean and the restaurant was tidy. The environment is nicely designed, quite spacious and the restaurant has a backyard. It was definitely an enjoyable and delicious experience that we would prefer and recommend again. MASABASI KEBAPCISI
Today, went to one of the most famous kebab restaurant namely, Masabasi Kebapcisi located in Balgat which has many numerous kebab restaurant along the street, as we observed the most preferred one is Masabasi Kebapcisi. As you can see in the photos, they served many appetizers as soon as you sit at the table. Behind the scene, there are successful chefs from Adana preparing the kebabs. When we asked the waiter, he suggested us to taste their Adana Kebab and Yaprak Kebab and we ordered them. As the Yaprak Kebab sizzled away on the grill, we could hardly contain our excitement. When it was finally served to us, the meat was tender and juicy, with a smoky flavor that was simply divine. The spices used in the marinade were perfectly balanced, adding just the right amount of heat to the dish. Adana Kebab was simply perfect. As we took our first bite from Adana Kebab, we were immediately struck by the juicy, smoky flavor of the lamb. The meat was cooked to perfection, with a slightly charred exterior that gave it a delicious crunch. The spices used in the marinade were just the right amount of heat, adding a spicy kick without overpowering the taste of the meat. Overall, the Adana Kebab and Yaprak Kebab were delightful culinary experience that left us with a newfound appreciation. The expertly grilled lamb, bold spices, and simple presentation combined to create a dish that we will undoubtedly be dreaming of for a long time to come. |
